Program Description:
The nurse will be responsible for ensuring the medical and First Aid needs of all staff and participants during the program. The nurse will also be responsible for holding and administering all medications. They will ensure the health and well-being of all staff and participants, while promoting the mission and objectives of the program.
Job Secifications:
- Completion of a post-secondary degree
- Registered Practical Nurse (RPN), Registered Nurse (RN)
- Experience working within a team, as well as independently
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving and communication skills
- Valid First Aid & CPR Certification
Performance Requirements:
The incumbent will be required to perform the following duties and tasks:
Ongoing Responsibilities
- Conduct an inventory of program First Aid supplies
- Create a list of First Aid items to be purchased prior to the program
- Review and update documentation required for maintaining records during program
On-site Responsibilities
- Ensure the health and well-being of all staff and participants during the session
- Monitor any medical conditions and administer any medication for all staff and participants
- Maintain records of medication administration as per provided guidelines
- Participate in various program events and activities when required
- Supervise participant behaviour to ensure it remains within the accepted guidelines
- Ensure that safety precautions are exercised throughout the session
- Attend daily staff meetings, to discuss and share any necessary updates and information
- Document and report all incidents of concern to the Program Director
Additional Responsibilities
- Report to the Senior Staff Team on a regular, on-going basis
- Adhere to the Staff Contract, Code of Conduct and all supplementary policies
- Ensure the confidentiality of all staff and participant information
- Submit a Staff Evaluation after the program, detailing recommendations for future sessions
- Assist with other tasks and projects as required
Time Commitment:
The Nurse is required to be onsite for the duration of the program and training week.
Compensation:
An honorarium will be granted for all work and services rendered. Travel expenses to Vancouver Island, B.C. as well as all meals and accommodations will be provided during the program.
