Transitioning to Assisted Living and Long-Term Care

The speaker will focus on recognizing key changes in both a loved and the caregiver, that serve as indicators to consider maximizing supports or transitioning to a facility with increased assistance.

Dr Naheed Rajabali was appointed as faculty member by the University of Alberta. He received his training in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine at the University of Alberta. He primarily works at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, on the acute inpatient ward and consult, and geriatric emergency medicine consult service. He had delivered care at the Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Program at the Kaye Edmonton Clinic in collaboration with the Department of Neurology from 2017 to 2022. He is particularly interested in devising approaches to tailoring care across various disease settings, particularly in the perioperative setting, and he alsoenjoys teaching.
Saifa Sidi has been in the public service for over 15 years in Health and Social Services. Saifa is currently working for the Ontario Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services. Previous to that, she worked as a Senior Financial Policy Advisor focusing on Long-Term Care in the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. Saifa is currently a National member for Elder Health Long-Term Care with the Aga Khan Health Board for Canada.
