Yasmin Ratansi is the first Muslim woman elected to the Canadian House of Commons.
Born in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, she immigrated to Canada in 1974. She is a Certified General Accountant. In 2009, Yasmin was bestowed with the John Leslie Award by CGA Canada
Yasmin is a member of the Liberal Party, represented the riding of Don Valley East in the House of Commons of Canada, from 2004 to 2011, and again from 2015.
