Calling all volunteers! Do you have the desire and capacity to help in your community? The federal and provincial governments have launched volunteer recruitment campaigns, as well as matching services. Learn about the various opportunities below.
- The National COVID-19 Volunteer Recruitment Campaign is building an inventory of volunteers to help out in the following areas:
- Case tracking and contact tracing
- Health system surge capacity
- Case data collection and reporting
- The Ontario Workforce Matching Portal is collecting resource requests and matching available volunteers to opportunities. Please register if:
- You can volunteer as a health professional or a health professional in training
- You can volunteer in a general capacity
- You work for a healthcare institution that is in need of resources
- Visit BC211: Safe Seniors, Strong Communities matching service if:
- You can volunteer to help with any of the following: grocery shopping and delivery, meal preparation and delivery, phone and/or virtual visits, prescription pick-up and delivery, providing transportation to appointments, or laundry services.
- You are an elder (65+) in need of assistance
- The Government of Ontario has created a rare exception for foreign-trained physicians to get their license for 30 days. The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) is extending Short-Duration Certificates to candidates who have not yet completed their residency but have the following credentials:
- a medical degree from an accredited medical school
- practiced medicine full-time in the previous two years (including medical school)
- confirmation of employment from one of the approved categories of facilities laid out in the Medicine Act, including public hospitals, and an identified supervisor
