Since the difficulties that arose from the Islamic Revolution in Iran for Ismailis, my parents were forced to leave the country. My dad was in the UK and my mom was a student in Pakistan and later returned to Iran after getting married to my dad. My dad first tried sponsoring us to join him in the UK but the immigration process was slow and frustrating. With the help of FOCUS & the Ismaili Council in Canada, we were able to reunite as a family on March 18, 1998, in Toronto, Canada. My dad met me for the first time at the Toronto Pearson International Airport.
