Burnout to Self Care: A Discussion with Dr. Saira

Join Dr. Saira Sabzaali as she discusses topics impacting the nursing profession in this unprecedented climate. The webinar will explore the pressures of a heavy workload and burnout, the importance of self-care when the professional demands of health care professionals are at their peak, and other relevant topics. This will be a pre-recorded webinar, and Dr. Saira will answer pre-submitted questions at the end of the session. The session will be moderated by Naureen Lakhani.

Dr. Saira Sabzaali has a Ph.D. in transpersonal psychology, and she is a Canadian Certified Counsellor. She specializes in transitional periods and relationship issues, and works with generally high functioning individuals who are at a crossroads or “choice point”, and are ready for change. She has over ten years of counselling and workshop facilitation experience with a wide range of clientele, including people from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds. She offers motivational education and training seminars for corporate and not-for-profit clients, with a special interest in team-building, leadership development, and burn-out. As a mental health professional with a commitment to implementing lasting interventions, Dr. Saira is always striving to provide the most effective, accessible, and evidence-based care for both individuals and companies alike.

Naureen Lakhani currently works at Peel Public Health as a supervisor for the COVID-19 pandemic response on the workplace outbreaks team. Her main role, is supporting new mothers with their infant feeding goals as a public health nurse. Her background in public health also includes tackling systemic issues related to the social determinants of health and addressing health equity within the community. Outside of work, Naureen is an event co-lead on the Ismaili Nurses Alliance Steering Committee and has taken part in other volunteering initiatives with the Aga Khan Health Board for Ontario. In her downtime, Naureen enjoys sitting down with a good mystery novel and making post-pandemic travel plans.
