Bait-ul Ilm Registration 2023-24

In the Aga Khan Academies Vision statement, Mawlana Hazar Imam states:

“What students know is therefore no longer the most important measure of an education. The true test is the ability of students and graduates to engage with what they do not know and to work out a solution. They must also be able to reach conclusions that constitute the basis for informed judgements. The ability to make judgements that are grounded in solid information and employ careful analysis, should be one of the most important goals for any educational endeavour. As students develop this capability, they can begin to grapple with the most important and difficult step: to learn to place such judgements in an ethical framework.”

We must ask ourselves, how will our students realize the goals that our beloved Imam has set out for our learners? What do our students need in their toolkits to engage with what they do not know? The answer is unique to every student. Through a combination of their secular schooling and extra-curricular activities, we can be confident that they are advancing in a positive direction, but how will they acquire the ‘it’ factor? In other words, what will inspire them to strive further than they can imagine? What will broaden their perspectives to be more inquisitive and pluralistic? What will encourage them to lead an ethical life rooted in our faith? There is no single answer, but undoubtedly, BUI is a springboard that will nurture the ‘it’ factor within them.

Registration has begun for the 2023-24 Bait-ul Ilm (BUI) academic year. There are a range of offerings that will meet every student’s needs. Students can expect a year filled with opportunities for deeper understanding of our faith, learn how to manage challenging questions, and build friendships that will last a lifetime. Furthermore, BUI will also offer a newly designed Recitation & Practices program that includes lessons in tariqah related matters.
