Ismaili CIVIC Ramadan Food Drive

April 8, 2021 | British Columbia

Thousands of Canadians are facing food insecurity, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Food banks, which are an essential service, are currently facing food shortages.

During the month of Ramadan, the Jamat is invited to donate non-perishable food items to our Ismaili Civic Food Drive. This year we are partnering with four food banks: The Greater Vancouver Food Bank, Richmond Food Bank Society, Surrey Food Bank, and the Muslim Food Bank.

The Food Drive will run from Tuesday, April 13 to Wednesday, May 12.

Donation drop-offs at Jamatkhanas this Saturday, April 24 will be suspended due to recent health orders.

Donations will be accepted at the designated Save-On Foods grocery stores listed below:

  • Whole-grain rice or legumes
  • Pastas and sauces
  • Baby formula
  • Peanut butter
  • Canned soups, beans and stews
  • Canned protein (fish & meat)

Those wishing to make a monetary donation can do so directly to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.
