Dr. Anthony Ruocco
Dr. Ruocco is an Associate Professor, Department of Psychology at the University of Toronto. Additionally, he holds academic appointments at the Centre for Addiction & Mental Health and the Hospital for Sick Children. Dr. Ruocco's research uses neurocognitive and brain-imaging measures to understand the pathophysiology underlying severe mental disorders, especially borderline personality disorder.

 

 

Dr. James Kennedy
Dr. Kennedy has training in three major fields: neuroscience, clinical psychiatry, and molecular genetics. His research interest over the past 25 years has been the identification of susceptibility genes for psychiatric disorders. Given his background and interests, Dr. Kennedy spearheads the Molecular Brain Science Department at CAMH that oversees research in genetics, epigenetics, molecular biology, molecular pharmacology, stem cell methods, and molecular bioinformatics. Additionally, Dr. Kennedy leads the Tanenbaum Centre for pharmacogenetics and the large IMPACT study, which focuses on developing new genetic tests to predict medication response and side effects. Above all, he has trained over 25 graduate students and 55 research fellows, some of whom are now Full Professors in North America and Japan.

 

 

Dr. Diane Philipp
Dr. Philipp received her MD from McMaster University and did her residency training in adult psychiatry in the Harvard-Longwood Program as well as her child and adolescent psychiatry training at the Cambridge Hospital, Harvard Medical School.  She completed a fellowship in Infant and Perinatal Psychiatry at the University of Toronto Medical School. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor, University of Toronto and heads an infant and preschool assessment and treatment team at the SickKids Centre for Community Mental Health.  Dr. Philipp has authored and co-authored several articles on young families and the transition to parenthood; she has also developed a model of brief family therapy for the infant and preschool population known as Reflective Family Play (RFP; Philipp, 2012).

 

 

Dr. Marshall Korenblum
Dr. Marshall Korenblum is the Medical Director of the Sick Kids Centre for Community Mental Health. He is also an Associate Professor, Dep’t. of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine, at the University of Toronto, and is a Consultant to the Division of Youth Psychiatry, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Dr. Korenblum has been a practising child/adolescent psychiatrist in Toronto for over 30 years.  His clinical and research interests concern the intersection of mood and personality disorder in adolescents. He is a passionate advocate of public education and stigma reduction in the field of children’s mental health.

 

 

Dr. Trina Epstein
Trina Epstein, Psy.D., C.Psych. is a psychologist who works with children, adolescents and their parents. She received her doctoral degree from Rutgers University. For many years she worked at Toronto Western Hospital, providing assessment and treatment to children and adolescents with Tourette Syndrome and its associated problems (e.g., ADHD, OCD, Autism Spectrum Disorder), conducted research, and supervised students. Currently, she works in private practice where she treats children and teens with a wide array of mental health challenges and offers consultation to parents and schools. Dr. Epstein is the co-author of The Adventures of Stretch More, a children’s book about a collaborative parenting approach. She has a special interest in primary prevention and has developed and implemented trainings for various children’s organizations to help increase awareness of the social and emotional needs of children. She is also interested in the integration of arts and mental health promotion and is on the Advisory Board for Arts With Impact.

 

 

Dr. Sheri Turrell
Dr. Sheri Turrell graduated from OISE / University of Toronto in 2004 and has since been working as a clinical psychologist with children, adolescents, and families. Sheri is co-author of “ACT for Adolescents: A Clinician Guide,” and a new self help book entitled, “The Mindfulness and Acceptance Workbook for Teen Anxiety.”  She enjoys being a supervisor, consultant, and international trainer for graduate students and mental health professionals who are interested in learning Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.  Sheri is currently a senior candidate with the Toronto Institute for Contemporary Psychoanalysis.

 

 

Dr. Gillian Galen
Gillian Galen, PsyD is an instructor in psychology at Harvard Medical School. She is the Program Director and Assistant Director of Training of the Adolescent Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Intensive Residential Program, 3East-- a unique, residential program for young women exhibiting self-endangering behaviors and borderline personality traits at the Harvard-affiliated McLean Hospital. She specializes in adolescent psychotherapy, including DBT and the training of new DBT clinicians. She has a particular interest in using mindfulness and yoga in the treatment of BPD and other psychiatric illnesses. She is the co-author of two books: Mindfulness for Borderline Personality Disorder: Relieve your Suffering using the Core Skill of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Coping with BPD: DBT and CBT Skills to Soothe the Symptoms of Borderline Personality. Gillian also has a private practice in the area and is a registered yoga instructor.

 

 

Kimberly Moran
Kimberly Moran is dedicated to improving the lives of children and youth with a focus on strengthening healthcare policy, systems and patient outcomes in Canada and internationally. Given her family’s lived experience with mental health, she is a fierce advocate for access to quality and timely child and youth mental health. Kim is currently CEO of Children’s Mental Health Ontario, representing the province’s largest provider of child and youth mental health services, supporting 120,000 children, youth and their families. She serves on the board of CMHA Toronto, and previously contributed to the North York General Hospital and SIM-one Simulation Healthcare Network boards.
